Recruitment Ideas
A number of easy ideas that leaders
can implement in relation to recruitment
* Get an article published in your
local school newsletter advertising that you are looking for parent helpers.
* Ask your local school if you can attend a school assembly (take along some
information and maybe some members in uniform). Tell them all about Scouting.
* Use the documents provided in this Recruitment section to give out to local
schools, libraries. etc
* Contact ex-leaders to see if there circumstances have changed and whether they
would be interested in helping again.
* Ensure that the local community know what you are doing (eg) advertise in
community centres, libraries, schools and on websites.
* Get articles published in your sponsoring authorities newsletters (eg) Parish
newsletter, school or community centre notice boards.
* Visit parents of prospective new members - find out if they are interested in
helping.
* Talk to local Explorer Units about having them help with your section (some of
them are Young Leaders already)
* Give handouts to parents at City events (Andy has a selection of these for
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers)
* Exchange ideas with other leaders - what worked for you in recruiting new
adults
* Run social evenings for your parents and leaders - recruit them over a quiet
beer !!
